Welcome to MOF podcast.
WHAT is self confidence ?
Having self-confidence describes the feeling when you believe in your capabilities and when you trust that you can handle whatever task or situation might come your way.
It’s when you feel good about yourself and have a positive attitude about who you are as a person and where you fit into in the world.
Self-confidence helps you to take on new challenges and not be afraid of making mistakes, because you believe in your ability to at least give it a try and aren’t held back by what other people may think.
WHY according such importance to self confidence ?
If you don’t feel particularly confident in yourself and your abilities, it’s going to be tough to find the emotional energy you need to do things!
It’s about having a balanced view of yourself, which means knowing what you’re capable of and what your strengths are, and taking pride in that, while also being able to see that you are not perfect and being humble enough to admit you don’t know everything.
Based on that, when you have a healthy self confidence, you’re much more likely to speak up for yourself in a kind-yet-assertive way, It can also improve your relationships and your level of communication with others.
HOW to build such level of self confidence ?
- Start with self awareness: this is the base, that you should start with in every self growth approach. Always start by acknowledging yourself. Know your strengths and weaknesses and admit them.
- Be authentic: Be honest enough with yourself and about all what you are living right now. Stop faking your reality it will never work like this. Even if you fake it or pretend it, once your are alone. You will not feel good about yourself. It’s like you are loosing you identity.
- Be assertive: which basically means to say what you mean and mean what you say!Assertiveness is a way of confidently and clearly communicating what you need and want, as well as what you don’t want, in a kind and thoughtful way but without apology; you have the right to decide what you will and will not accept in your life,
- Practice positive self-talk: try to focus on your strengths and accomplishments; stop judging your self in a hard way. Just focus on the bright side of you.
- Practice mindfulness: practices like meditation or yoga – activities which enhance our senses, can help to improve self-awareness and self-acceptance, which can boost your self-confidence.
- Try new things: challenge yourself and don’t be afraid about confronting people, situation or problems. Just dive into it and learn.
- Surround yourself with positive people: yes, we should. I like a quote that says: Show me your friends I will show you future. It is deeply true because being around negative people doesn’t tend to fill you with positive vibes or make you feel good about yourself. So instead, find people who support you and believe in you
- Give yourself time: because it’s important to remember that building self-confidence takes time, and it’s not something that can be achieved overnight. All things take time, and that’s OK; patience is one of the most important life lessons you’ll ever learn. The thing is to be kind to yourself, be patient and keep working on it.
- Take care of yourself: eating well, getting enough sleep, and exercising can all help to improve your physical and mental well-being, which in turn can boost your self-confidence. That also goes for looking after your physical appearance, in other words, dressing well and taking care of your appearance. When you look good, you feel good… and that can boost your self-confidence.
